6.Procedure for resignation, replacement or removal of members:

Following procedure for resignation, replacement or removal of members shall be followed:

Resignation:Any member can resign anytime from the IEC by giving prior notice to the head of the institute. If an existing IEC member completes his tenure and does not wish to continue or resigns or a regular member is unable to continue working on the committee or fails to perform his/her responsibilities as per the requirements of the IEC, a new member preferably from the same category may be appointed by the head of the institute. The decision on approval of resignation shall finally be taken by the head of the institute at the request of the member.

Replacement:After resignation or removal of an existing IEC member will be considered by the head of the institute preferably from the same category at the earliest for the proper functioning of the IEC.

Removal:Any member shall disqualify and be removed if:

• He/she is guilty of any professional misconduct
• He/she is convicted for moral turpitude or imprisoned
• He/she is found to be involved in professional malpractices.
• He/she fails to discharge functions as an IEC member
• He/she continuously abstains from attending meetings of the IEC without information/valid reason.
• He/she willingly suppresses, conceals, or withholds any information available/known to him/her with regard to any research project pending before IEC for approval and/or his/her personal conflict of interest with regard to that project.

Broadly, it shall be as per the decision taken by the head of the institute as and when required on the request of the IEC member/IEC.
